Los Angeles trio Cannons introduced their blend of shimmery electro-pop and sultry dance-rock in 2014 with the EP Up All Night. A similarly titled, self-released debut album, Night Drive, eventually followed in 2017. The lead single from their second full-length, 2019’s “Fired for You,” proved to be a breakthrough after it was used in Netflix’s Never Have I Ever in 2020, leading to the group’s major-label debut album, Fever Dreams, in 2022.

Making music together since their teens, vocalist Michelle Joy, keyboardist/bassist Paul Davis, and guitarist Ryan Clapham formed Cannons in L.A. in 2013. They made their recording debut with the Up All Night EP a year later, then went to work on what would become their full-length debut. The completed Night Drive was self-released in 2017.

Following another EP, 2018’s In a Heartbeat, second album Shadows was issued on Antifragile Music in mid-2019. Its lead single, “Fire for You,” appeared in a 2020 episode of the Netflix series Never Have I Ever and subsequently topped the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart while reaching the Top Ten of the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Columbia Records came calling, and Cannons returned to the alternative and adult alternative airplay charts with 2021’s “Bad Dream,” the lead single from their third full-length, 2022’s Fever Dreams.
