Exposure: Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness
Updated: Oct 30, 2014 -- 12:27pm

For years FM102/1 has been bringing you the best in new music with FM102/1 Exposure Shows. Some “alumni” include Vance Joy and Meg Myers, Broods and The Griswolds, Flobots, Electric Guest and The Features. TONIGHT, FM102/1 brings Milwaukee the biggest exposure show yet with Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness and Mikhael Paskalev. Tonight’s Exposure Show isn’t like any other, because tonight is FM102/1 Exposure Show For A Cause to Benefit The Dear Jack Foundation.

Although the show is free with a ticket, donations (not required for entry) will be accepted at the door. So what is The Dear Jack Foundation? In 2005, Andrew McMahon was getting ready to go on tour with Jack’s Mannequin but his health became a concern to him. So he went to his doctor and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocyic Leukemia. So what is The Dear Jack Foundation? For that we turn to the foundations website:

“Throughout the summer of 2005, Andrew underwent two rounds of chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and, with a stroke of good luck, a successful stem cell transplant from his sister. During his battle with ALL, it became clear to Andrew that in a generation where cancer has become the second largest cause of death in the US and the biggest public action item relevant to health, there were still major shortfalls in treatment, support, and research on behalf of the young adult demographic. In an effort to initiate change and provide a voice for the generations of young adults who have been diagnosed with cancer, Andrew founded the Dear Jack Foundation in July of 2006.”

All Andrew McMahon projects, Something Corporate, Jack’s Mannequin, and this current one, are a celebration of something. With Something Corporate it was a celebration of teenage angst and being young. Jack’s Mannequin and the current project are celebrations of overcoming the odds and a celebration of life. Come out tonight to hear songs spanning Andrew’s entire career from Something Corporate to Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness.

Opening tonight’s show is Mihkael Paskalev. You’ve heard his single “I Spy”, and you’ve seen the beautifully bizarre music video. Now see him live in a performance you won’t soon forget. Still don’t have your tickets? Come out to the Pumpkin on 84th 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. to snag a pair.
